Frequently asked questions.

What happens during the initial evaluation?

When you and/or your child first arrive, we’ll first go over the initial paperwork that was sent over after the consultation phone call and any questions you have will be answered. Your first appointment usually lasts between 60-75 minutes and mainly consists of a detailed history, goals for treatment, and any concerns you and/or your child may have prior to beginning treatment.

If my child is seeking services, should I go to the initial appointment?

This is mostly dependent on your teen! Typically, you and your teen will be together for the first portion of the evaluation in order to get some information or perspective from you, and in order to go over any policies and confidentiality issues. Sometimes teen clients prefer to have their parents with them for the duration of their appointment, and other times teens would like their own time to talk and answer questions.

What’s the difference between Family Therapy and Parent Sessions?

Family Therapy includes the teen client and is more focused on the overall family functioning and treatment. The purpose of these sessions are to work through conflict that may be arising, providing teen clients with guided facilitation to express difficult emotions to parents, and to practice skills together as a family unit. Parent Sessions are provided for the parents, guardians, or caregivers of teen clients and serve as informational and educational spaces, a resource for support for parents, discussing treatment concerns, and problem solving any issues.

I’m interested in scheduling, but the provider I want to work with doesn’t take my insurance. What do I do?

PsychED Recovery, Inc is an insurance friendly clinic. Most people with commercial insurance have out-of-network coverage. Navigating insurance and understanding your coverage for benefits you already have is difficult to figure out. In order to alleviate this frustration and stress, PsychED Recovery has partnered with Mentaya in order to help you utilize all the benefits of your insurance plan and get reimbursed for sessions. Clients with OON benefits are typically reimbursed 60-80% of session costs
